POD Cost Model Tool

I am hoping you can help me out or point me in the right direction.

I have a customer who is requesting a POD excel type formula that can help explain the benefits of POD vs traditional offset/warehouse.  They are also looking for a tool to show the additional costs incurred outside of the cost of the book unit.

Are you aware of any tools like this?  We are looking for something to extrapolate the benefits of POD beyond a book unit cost that we can pass on to our customer to provide a better understanding of how POD fits within their economic model.

I don't know of a commercial tool that's available, but it's a matter of adding in the storage and picking costs associated with longer run storage and fulfillment, along with the obsolescence, how much gets scrapped at the end, etc all into the offset printing unit rates, which brings that rate much closer to the cost of POD.
